Paola Livorsi (b. 1967) has lived in Finland since 2001. Her practice is in-between music composition, electronic music, and performance. In her doctoral artistic research (2023), she investigated the pervasiveness of vocal, performative layers in instrumental practices and in language as well. She is part of the experimental music group Naarmu (Scratch), working on Cornelius Cardew’s The Great Learning, based on Confucian principles.

She is interested in investigating concepts of space and place, how art spaces are embedded in a larger societal tissue, and how their perception can change through artistic practices.
She has an expanded approach to music, working often with artists from other fields. Passionate about learning languages, as ways to sonically and performatively learn about others, has been doing transcultural work and believes in building an open society.
