Dust is a kind of interface โ scientific yet mundane. Within the domestic, it becomes a proto-archive, a record of what occurred.
๐ฉ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ ๐ท๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐ ๐ฎ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ offers domestic dust, text, textile, and armour as objects that may hold data revealing how we view labour, matter and identities entangled within domestic as well as public spaces.
The personal complicates the bodyโs presence within shared spaces, exerting force on bodily mobility, safety and autonomy within public spaces. ๐ฉ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ ๐ท๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐ ๐ฎ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ puts forth the two parallel inquisitions and looks at dust and body concurrently within discourses on movement, visibility and identity.
๐๐ก๐ฎ๐๐ก๐๐ง๐ ๐ข ๐๐ข๐ง๐ ๐กโs practice as a visual artist and filmmaker responds to contemporary politics and the interconnectedness of production and reproduction of popular and everyday material. She often draws upon the empirical as well as existing recorded knowledge to address movement, identity and queries related to the feminine and its relationship with the public sphere.
Singh is the co-founder of New City Limits, an initiative to facilitate creative viewing and practice in Navi Mumbai, India and she currently lives and practices in Helsinki.
