BRETT SROKA
is a composer, musician and sound artist for film, dance, installation and his electro-acoustic jazz trio, Ergo and melodronoise duo Cherubim, in which he plays trombone and laptop. He has released five records on Cuneiform Records, Fresh Sound and Zeromoon, collaborating with musicians such as Jason Moran, Mary Halvorson and Avishai Cohen. He has performed at the Sonic Circuits Festival, the Guggenheim Museum and Risonanze in Venice, Italy, received awards from the Queens Council on the Arts, the I-Park Foundation, and been a visiting artist at the University of Pennsylvania, the Institute of Electronic Arts at Alfred University and the Vilnius Academy of Art. In 2014 Sroka premiered his performance-installation, Sine Qua Non at Roulette in Brooklyn, he will release Ergo�s fourth record, �As subtle as tomorrow� and was an artist-in-residence at Ptarmigan in Estonia and the Arteles Creative Center in Finland.
For this first time performing in Helsinki he will play solo using trombone, found sounds and Max/MSP, and also improvise with guitarist Moritz Cartheuser.
MORITZ CARTHEUSER
is a musician migrating between Helsinki and Berlin. He plays electric guitar and prepared guitar with a focus on blending different music genres in order to achieve a huge variety of sound, noise and timbre. As a member in different bands and projects he has toured all over Europe.
