March for the Arts 15.8. at 7pm from Rautatientori!

VISIT: https://taiteilijatleikkauksiavastaan.wordpress.com

📣📣📣 Join us in celebrating the diversity of the arts and march for the future of art and culture!

📛 The government of Finland is planning substantial cuts to the arts and cultural sector, which pose a threat to the livelihoods of art professionals and cultural workers, the existence of cultural institutions, and the availability of cultural programmes across the country.

With 130,000 people employed in arts and culture and many more working as freelancers, the future looks uncertain for all of us. It’s time to unite and take a stand against the cuts and to show solidarity with all those affected by the government’s policies.

🟢 Let’s march together to defend a life worth living!
Bring your fabulous and colourful outfits, dance, music, pots and pans, shouts, glamour and angry joy.

📍Meet up at 7 pm at Rautatientori/Railway Square.
The route of the march is about 2,5 km long, with few short stops.

📌 The March will end in a Street Party at Kansalaistori starting from 8:30 pm.

🪧 If you want to prepare banners for the March join on Saturday 10th of Aug from 5pm till 8pm and on Monday 12th of Aug from 1pm till 5pm to Arts Against Cuts banner workshop at Museum of Impossible Forms (Aallonhalkoja 9; Sompasaari).

✨ ARTS AGAINST CUTS brings together artists, art institutions, and art workers across disciplines. It is born from the urgency to form a united front to advocate for a sustainable future for the arts and culture in Finland.
We oppose the cuts to public funding because we believe that public funding should nurture and care for public life and support a dignified life for all. We oppose the cuts to the arts, culture, and education because the diversity and accessibility in these sectors are crucial for our society’s development and imagination to thrive.
