Artist talk with Nei Zigm on “Co-Creation and Collectivity: How to coexist with the neoliberal system of contemporary society as an independent musician?”
31.10.2024, from 10–11.30 on Zoom (request link via )
More than having an answer, this is a question I, Nei Zigma, pose to my artistic peers to find solutions that are valuable as practical actions. In this lecture I will present, through my personal experience as an immigrant musician residing in Finland, Co-Creation and Collectivity as a form of Resistance against the Commodification of Art.
What I offer in terms of information about Cultural Production through music is a narrative about my experience in the creation process of my latest album “Evocação Negreira” (Black Evocation), which in its 10 songs brings poems related to my ancestry and the Afro-Brazilian diaspora around the world.

In light of the precariousness of art due to a system that seeks to objectively transform it into a consumer product without depth, co-creation and collectivity among various artistic expressions can turn what could be a hostile space into a fertile environment of creativity and resistance.
A singer and songwriter residing in Finland, he is known for his unique and authentic style, which draws upon his personal artistic research to evoke feelings and reflections on life, spirituality, and human relationships. With a distinctive style, his latest album “Evocação Negreira” (Black Evocation) challenges traditional categorization, inviting the audience to explore new dimensions of contemporary Brazilian music, in a unique fusion of rhythms and poetry. https://open.spotify.com/artist/4jFyUvR6zYSci7fR9GLNAb…
