Vargas Print Studio is an artist-run studio/workshop space located in Vallila, Helsinki. It provides courses, master support and individual tuition access to printmaking facilities: silkscreen, intaglio, relief printing, cyanotype, collagraph, monotypia, paper lithograph and photopolymer gravure. We do original prints and the aim is to evolve new projects to the wider fine art editioning.

Fine art editioning is created with slow traditional methods of printing and high-quality inks on a variety of archival fine papers. The studio wishes to maintain awareness of the qualities of traditional printing on contemporary art and its rules of conduct, such as honouring a hand pulled print, limited edition and personal hand touch on the artwork aesthetic qualities. Exclusive, limited fine art editions on paper, photography, ceramics and sculptures from selected artists are available for purchase and can be taken away on the same day.

Vargas Print Studio has been a stage for artistic creation, not only for transcultural artists, but also for Finnish artists. It is a place that has specific technical machinery for printing, where professional artists can work in a daily basis, according to their own possibility or project. As a fine artist, teacher and expert in printing methods, Rita Vargas has done her best to support the creation of art, promote other artists’ creative processes and discuss ideas about the current situation of art in Finland. From 2019 until the present moment, she was able to help about 34 artists, and held about 15 courses on various printmaking techniques.

Vargas Print Studio has also supported 3 internships from Omnia School and Fine Arts University of Helsinki. It is fantastic that the studio can participate in Art Fair Suomi this year, and be part of the selected Art Galleries and artist’s studios. I am very grateful for this acknowledgement and hopeful that this will support the studio’s continuation.

    The studio accepts card payments.

    Welcome! Tervetuloa! Välkommen!
