The Nordic Music Days is one of the longest continuously operating music festivals in the world. 

The Nordic Music Days focusses on Western classical music and aims to showcase the work of living Nordic composers.  Besides the music, the festival programme includes seminars and events, as the Nordic Music Days also serves as a collegial forum for all composers.

The theme of the 2013 festival is �Parallel Societies�. How do contemporary trends impact on traditional musical life? How far removed are a symphony-orchestra concert and a club evening of electronic music when compared to, say, the world of popular music? What is the role of the National Romantic conception of music in an age when the fields of art and culture are increasingly encouraged to operate more like businesses?
