Maryam Jalali is an Iranian visual artist based in Finland, who pursues a semi-surrealistic approach towards her painting practice, and attempts to create hybrids of traditional and modern art mediums in order to depict the intended themes. The main theme and direction to her artistic practice is to highlight the evolution and transition of traditional cultural elements, and reflect on the several outcomes of these gradual changes by means of using traditional cultural symbols, combined in novel and unpredictable manners.
