Born and bred on Manhattan, Richter has lived and worked in Helsinki for about twenty years. 

A freelance photographer since 1982, he has had exhibitions in museums and galleries on both sides of the Atlantic. His photos have been published in numerous magazines (Newsweek, Fortune and Rolling Stone, just to name a few).

He has taught in art schools in the US and in Finland, btw. at the University of Art and Design Helsinki. Richter traces his involvement with photography back to his childhood. 

He is Catalysti honorary member since 2018.
