Roxana Crisologo

Roxana Crisólogo Correa (Lima, Peru) is a Peruvian-Finnish poet, cultural activist and traveller living and working in Helsinki, Finland. She has published poetry books: Abajo sobre el cielo (Below above the sky), Animal del camino (Journey animal), Ludy D and Trenes (Trains). Hochroth Verlag (Berlin, 2017) published a collection of her poetry translated into German under the name of Eisbrecher (Icebreaker). An anthology of her poetry in Italian will be published this year by Seri Editore as Sotto sopra il cielo.

Crisólogo is the founder and chair woman of Sivuvalo Platform the aim of this multilingual literature association is to promote and make visible immigrant language literature written in Finland.

Currently she works also as coordinator in Finland for Nordic Literatures in Change and Exchange, a literature project engaged in creating networks for immigrant language writers in the Nordic region and she is the chair woman in the Leftist Artists’ and Writers’ Association Kiila.

Crisólogo is part of La Colectiva, a group of poets and artists based in Helsinki that use poetry to experiment with its relationship with other forms of language.

Crisólogo’s poetry presents power relations in everyday life in the post capitalist era. She rewrites general stories by including traditionally silenced voices to decolonize poetry in order to construct new epic with new heroes. Identity is a field in conflict and Crisólogo explores the transition to transnational identities through migration experiences.

Thanks to a grant from Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) she is writing a new poetry book.
