Independent Visual Artist, Zeynep Kaynar (1992, Turkey) has been working under Zeynep Kaynar Studio, a specialised creative studio for culture, art and educational services in Tampere, Finland. The artist uses semi-abstract and abstract visual language by adapting typography and basic design methods as observational tools in her fine art studio practice focusing on topics of urban sociology and visual culture. Zeynep holds a joint Master’s degree in Visual Arts and Visual Communication Design from Sabanci University, Istanbul, Turkey and where she also spent time as a visiting graduate student at the University of California, Los Angeles, USA.

Kaynar has a list of selected exhibitions and publications, including her last solo exhibition at Luckan Helsingfors, Finland, and Kunsthaus Jägermeister 2024 group exhibition, as well as previous group exhibitions in Istanbul, Madrid, Ghent and Copenhagen. Her works were featured by Emma Cocker, Alexander Damianisch, Cordula Daus, and Lena Séraphin in the SAR (Society of Artistic Research) Catalogue under Practice Sharing published in December 2020. Kaynar has been the recipient of several grants and subsidies, including the Alli ja Allan Salon Erillisrahasto from the Tampereen Taiteilijaseura ry on 2021 and the Die Gastkünstlerin Stipendiatin der Landeshauptstadt NRW, Gast aus Tampere in Düsseldorf in Summer 2024.

Kaynar is a member of various organizations, including Globe Art Point Ry, Tampereen Taiteilijaseura Ry, and Kultuuriosuuskunta TIcAS, and serves as a Community Manager for the TIcAS Cultural Space, in official partnership with Welcoming City Ohjelma, Tampereen Kaupunki. She has also participated in several residencies as Die Künstlerin Stipendiatin der Landeshauptstadt NRW in Düsseldorf, Taidekeskus KulttuuriKauppilan Residenssiohjelma in Oulu, Finland.
