This Open call is for Catalysti artists to contribute their childhood stories, artworks, performances and/or workshops to be part of the multidisciplinary and multicultural exhibition My Childhood at Annantalo Arts Centre on 13.10.-19.12.2021. Artists are invited to reflect on the questions: How can art create a culture of tolerance and trust? How we can understand each other without a common language?
Catalysti is looking for artworks that consist of meaningful and experiential stories about childhood. The exhibition is aimed for children, young people and their families. It wants to showcase a wide spectrum of childhood experiences through an array of different artistic mediums. It also includes a Family day, with workshops and performances, which artists can apply for.
Artworks in all artistic mediums are accepted. The work can be eg. visual art, continuous performance, theatre, music, documentary, installations etc. Artists should be aware that Annantalo’s primary audiences vary from 0 to 15 years of age, this partially affects, for example, at what level artworks are exhibited.
The written proposal should not exceed one page in A4 (excluding supplementary materials, which can be attached).

The exhibition My Childhood is a collaboration between Catalysti Transcultural Artists Association and Annantalo Arts Centre. The exhibition is curated by Paola Livorsi and Tatiana Solovieva from Catalysti and Anna Puhakka from Annantalo Arts Centre.
The original concept was created by Yasushi Koyama.
Fee and other costs
Artists chosen for the exhibition will be paid copyright compensations for the exhibited works in accordance to price listings set out in the Finnish copyright code for artworks (http://kuvasto.fi/in-english/). Material costs for artworks will be covered to a certain extent, please attach a budget to your application. Workshops and performances during the Family day will also receive payment. The Family Day will take place on a Sunday 10am-4pm, during the exhibition, the date will be decided in early 2021.
Annantalo will cover the transport of artworks within the Uusimaa region, as well as longer transports as much as possible. International transports will need to be considered.

- possible material budget

Family day application
To participate in the Family day on a Sunday during the exhibition with a performance or workshop, related to the topic of My Childhood. Please send the following information to , with:
- Name of the performance and description of performance
- List of the artists involved (please include contact information for each member)
- Genre of the performance (in so far as it can be specified)
- Detailed description of the technical resources required for the performance
- Age group that the performance is aimed at
- CV:s or Portfolios of the artists involved
You can also attach pictures of the performance.
