CATALYSTI SELECTS 4 ARTISTS (2 COUPLES) FOR THE WORLD VILLAGE FESTIVAL 2017

If you are a member of Catalysti and if you work with socially engaged or performative interactive pieces, you can apply this open call. We are looking for artists who work in couples and who are able to involve the public in sensorial experiences. It is important that the public is not only spectator (something to see or to hear) but that the public can touch and modify the artwork with their body or other forms of contributions.

The world Village Festival attracts every year thousands people and families at Kaisaniemi park at the heart of Helsinki. The content of the artwork has to be suitable for families and possibly designed for open access.

The work needs to be installed day 26.5.2017 and the artists with the work ready need to be available during festival days 27 and 28.5.2017, from 10am to 18:00. 

The main theme of the 2017 World Village festival is civil society, with a focus on its role, possibilities and future developments. We will only select proposals that have a focus on the theme.

To send a proposal, you need to describe the concept of the work and its connection with the theme of the festival (max 500 words), describe in detail how you will install it, what you provide yourself and what you need to be provided by the festival (max 1000 words), describe how the work interacts with the public (max 500 words), your biography (max 500 words).

The festival has provided shipping containers and tents in order to display the work, they are safe to leave your pieces locked during the night. Please remember that the festival provides a moderate amount of materials and props. 

The proposals chosen will be announced day 3.2.2017.

Sound artists who work with interactive pieces can submit separately their work at a different open call that will be open later.
