Including…is an alternative way to say no to racism with music, dance, poetry and performance art: an event taking place at Dubrovnik Lounge on Thursday March 20th at 7 pm on the European Week against Racism. The event is organized by Catalysti, a new association of transcultural artists who live and work in Finland. The programme of the event collects expressions from different art fields related to all forms of diversity. The artists were selected through an Open Call launched by the association among its members.
In the programme:
Liquid – Giorgio Convertito (dance, choreography), Libero Mureddu (keyboards, electronics), Moritz Cartheuser (guitar) – present Three Duos, a work about a more subtle form of racism, the idea of exclusion: the performance features only two members at a time, always excluding one.
During Hyun Joo Min�s performance Color the artist will invite to the stage six people of different nationalities, to express themselves only through the body, without talking. In the artist�s words “small things and gestures, like to show a smile when I see the other or to welcome a guest, are equally or even more important than big gestures against racism”.
Alexandre Riviello will present the collaborative project Me, You and Us. This project treats conceptualizations and meanings of cultural identities through music, movies and advertisements. Everyone is invited to send images, videos and music related to the question of racism. The material will be presented during the performance. It is possible to do it in Facebook or by e-mail at:
The poets Roxana Cris�logo and Daniel Malpicawill read their poems in Spanish, their mother tongue, as part of the project Sivuvalo, which promotes literature in other languages in Finland. The poems will be accompanied by a video made by Marek Pluciennik. In collaboration with Sivuvalo.
