Eoin O’Dowd

Eoin O’Dowd is an Irish multimedia artist working between Dublin Ireland and Helsinki Finland. Working in collage, moving image, sculpture and live performance.
Violent experiences have informed much of Eoin’s work. They have led to a critical stance on reactionary masculinity and an interest in how cognition and perception can alter through traumatic experience. Their work has a heightened interest in the corporal depiction of spiritual transience informed by a Roman Catholic background and preoccupation with religious
symbolism. Their work focuses on cultural materialism, the indignities of Capitalism and it’s inability to provide meaningful work.
Eoin was the coordinator of Eight Gallery Dublin from 2013 – 2018.
Since 2020, Eoin co-curated a show of international artists (Cathartic Heresy – Platform Arts Belfast N.Ireland) – Partook in a number of invitational residencies – Held multiple solo exhibitions (Asbestos Art Space, Galleria 3h+k) -Took part in Gathering for Rehearsing Hospitalities 2022, hosted by FRAME Finland at the Theatre Academy of Uniarts Helsinki, in a collaborative dialogical and musical performance project (TheTrouble with Doing a Lot with Very Little) – Recently completed an artistic development programme with Globe Art Point – Helsinki.
